About this resource

Your Reception Classroom: A Guide to Setting Up Starting a new Reception class can feel exciting, overwhelming and, at times, completely impossible. Between organising resources, preparing routines and trying to create the "perfect" environment, it's easy to lose sight of what really matters. This practical guide is packed with the things I genuinely wish I'd known when I first stepped into Reception. Inside, I'll walk you through the questions I ask myself before setting anything up, the areas of the classroom I prioritise, the adult interactions that have the biggest impact, and the systems that save my sanity during those busy first few weeks. I've also shared the things I no longer worry about and the non-negotiables I come back to year after year. This isn't a Pinterest-perfect classroom handbook. It's an honest, reassuring and practical guide from one Reception teacher to another – designed to help you feel confident, calm and ready to welcome a new cohort of children. Inside this guide you'll find: • Before You Touch a Single Resource • The Areas I Never Skip • Adult Interactions Matter More Than Displays • The Systems That Save My Sanity • Things I Don't Worry About Anymore • My September Non-Negotiables • A Note to September You Whether you're setting up Reception for the very first time or simply looking for a reminder that good enough really is good enough, I hope this guide leaves you feeling inspired, reassured and ready for the year ahead.
