Mixed Nursery & Reception Medium Term Plan - Autumn 1
Support your mixed-age provision with this collection of editable Mixed Nursery & Reception Medium Term Plans, providing a clear, practical overview of teaching and learning across each half term.
Designed specifically for mixed Nursery and Reception settings, each plan follows the themes and big questions from the accompanying curriculum map, while clearly distinguishing between Nursery and Reception learning and expectations.
The plans bring together all areas of the EYFS, including Communication and Language, PSED, Physical Development, Literacy, Mathematics, Understanding the World and Expressive Arts and Design, with age-appropriate opportunities for both cohorts.
Each half-term plan includes:
Key lines of enquiry for Nursery and Reception
Characteristics of Effective Learning
Cultural capital and enrichment opportunities
Role play and continuous provision ideas
Key texts and literacy opportunities
Phonics
Mathematics
Key vocabulary
Curriculum coverage for Nursery and Reception
Provision enhancements and adult interaction guidance
Observation and assessment prompts
Links to the relevant progression documents
Practical planning reminders to support flexible, child-led provision
The plans are designed to work alongside your Mixed Nursery & Reception Curriculum Map and progression documents, helping you create a connected approach to curriculum planning, provision and assessment rather than treating each document as a standalone resource.
Each half term is provided as a separate editable Word document, allowing you to adapt the plans to reflect your children's interests, starting points, local context and the needs of your setting.
Perfect for mixed-age Nursery and Reception classrooms, preschools, EYFS leaders and practitioners looking for a clear structure while retaining the flexibility that makes EYFS provision so effective.
