About this resource

Pre-School Maths Planning 3-4: Autumn 1 A practical, play-based maths planning pack designed specifically for children aged 3-4. Links directly to the Preschool Long Term Maths Plan. This Autumn 1 pack includes two detailed maths focuses, designed to support approximately six weeks of learning: Focus 1: Noticing, Matching & Sorting Focus 2: Counting & Number Rhymes Each focus is designed to be explored over approximately three weeks through adult-led experiences, continuous provision, everyday routines and children’s self-chosen play, rather than as a sequence of formal daily maths lessons. The planning includes key vocabulary, practical experiences, continuous provision opportunities, adult prompts, developmental observations and ‘Observation → What next?’ guidance to help practitioners respond to what children are noticing, doing and understanding. Flexible and easy to adapt to your own cohort, the pack supports practitioners to build strong early mathematical foundations through meaningful, repeated experiences. Also includes a ‘How to Use These Plans’ guide.
