About this resource
Preschool Summer 1 Medium Term Plan | 3–4 Years
This Preschool Medium Term Plan provides a practical and flexible framework for planning learning and provision across the Summer 1 half term, based around the theme Transport & Journeys and the Big Question “How do we get from one place to the other?”
Designed for children aged 3–4 years, the plan supports practitioners in turning the ideas from the Preschool Curriculum Map into meaningful learning experiences, provision opportunities and adult interactions.
The plan includes:
Theme and Big Question
Lines of enquiry
Curriculum coverage across all seven areas of learning
Experiences, provision and adult interaction
How this plan links to the progression documents
Key texts and songs
Key vocabulary
Cultural capital and enrichment opportunities
Provision enhancement ideas
Observation and assessment prompts
The plan is designed to provide structure without becoming a checklist, allowing practitioners to follow children's interests, fascinations and developmental needs throughout the half term. Learning can be revisited through continuous provision, stories, play, routines and meaningful interactions.
It is designed to be used alongside the Preschool Curriculum Map, Skills Progression, Knowledge Progression and Skills & Knowledge Checkpoints, helping practitioners make clear links between curriculum planning, provision and children's developing knowledge and skills.
Perfect for Preschool, Nursery and mixed-age EYFS settings, this resource provides a clear and practical starting point for delivering a rich, purposeful and developmentally appropriate curriculum for children aged 3–4.
Please note: This is a medium-term planning document and is designed to be adapted to suit the needs, interests and context of your setting. It links directly back to my Preschool Long Term Curriculum Map.
