About this resource

This “When to Get an Adult” visual support poster is a clear and child-friendly resource designed to promote independence, problem-solving and emotional regulation within the EYFS classroom. Using a simple, step-by-step structure, the poster supports children in understanding how to manage challenges independently before seeking adult help. It encourages key skills such as trying again, making choices, using calming strategies and resolving problems with peers, before recognising when adult support or an emergency response is needed. The visual format makes it accessible for young children, helping them to confidently navigate social situations, regulate emotions and develop resilience. It also supports consistent language and expectations across the classroom, reinforcing behaviour routines and positive interactions. © 2026 EYFS with Mrs S. All rights reserved.
